Many activities are scheduled for Homecoming, including week-long campus and student events, the Homecoming Parade, college events, the Grand Awards Gala, the Green and White pre-game brunch, the MSU Families @ Homecoming Tailgate and the Homecoming football game versus the Northwestern Wildcats! Don’t forget to show your Spartan Spirit by “glowing green.”

Monday, October 10

Paint the Aves Student Competition

The MSU Homecoming Committee and the City of East Lansing Downtown Management Board invite student organizations to participate in a window painting competition along city storefronts. Hayrides and History

Kick off Homecoming Week with this classic event sponsored by the University Activities Board.
Take a hayride around campus and learn about MSU’s history. Think you know your MSU trivia?

1966 “Game of the Century” – 50th Anniversary Celebration

Join the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the 1966 “Game of the Century” played between Michigan State University and Notre Dame. Hosted by Michigan State University Archives & Historical Collections, the evening will feature a discussion of the game by 1966 MSU Spartan Football players, including Jimmy Raye, Clinton Jones, Jerry West and Sterling Armstrong. Sports radio broadcaster and author Jack Ebling will serve as moderator. Tom Shanahan, author of “Raye of Light,” will also join the discussion to provide insight into the historical importance of the “Game of the Century.”

Join the MSU Exercise is Medicine Leadership Team for the Health Homecoming Walk in MSU's inaugural Exercise is Medicine lap walking competition versus Penn State University. Walkers will walk laps around Demonstration Hall Field and in addition to being eligible for a drawing for two tickets to the Detroit Grand Prix Race in 2017, will receive a small prize for their participation.

Celebrate 100 Years of IM Circle

Explore the history and future of one of Michigan State University’s beloved buildings, IM Sports Circle, as we celebrate its 100th year. This open house event will give visitors an opportunity to take tours and learn about the research, classes and sport activities now taking place inside the building. Photos going back to its construction in 1916 will also be on display. Alumni and members of the public around campus for this year’s Homecoming festivities are welcome to attend. Cake and refreshments will be served.

College of Veterinary Medicine Medical Center Tour and Alumni Reception

The College of Veterinary Medicine will be hosting tours of the veterinary medical center and an alumni reception open to all CVM alumni. Hear updates from CVM Dean Dr. John Baker beginning at 4:00 p.m., with tours available 2:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. The medical center tours have a limit of 8 participants and pre-registration is required. Join the College of Arts & Letters for a Homecoming Parade watch! Visit thetent to meet with other alumni, families and friends of CAL as you enjoy the parade festivities. MSU’s own Eat @ State food truck will be on hand serving up refreshments, including its award-winning signature Smoked Cheddar Cheeseburger. Stop by the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum before the parade and create your own Spartan keepsake. You can let your Spartan spirit fly by creating a one-of-a-kind pennant. Museum staff will have their screen-printing cart available to celebrate MSU’s Homecoming, allowing alumni and friends of the university to create a unique memento.

Communication Arts and Sciences alumni and friends are invited to watch the MSU Homecoming Parade from the best view in town at the ComArtSci Homecoming Bash! Ticket purchase includes appetizers, cash bar and a prime spot to watch the parade as it passes by on Abbot Road.

The parade begins at the Hannah Community Center and travels south on Abbot Road to Grand River and into campus at the Collingwood entrance, concluding at the corner of Farm and Shaw Lanes.
