The Alumni LENS (Lifelong ENrichment for Spartans) is a program of the Michigan State University Alumni Association. Alumni LENS provides a wide variety of noncredit personal enrichment offerings for alumni and friends of MSU and community members in Lansing and the surrounding region. All adults are welcome - you do not have to be affiliated with MSU to participate in the Alumni LENS.

Noncredit offerings are listed on this website. There are no grades, transcripts, credits or examinations. On occasion the purchase of materials such as books or supplies may be recommended. Alumni LENS offerings are designed for those who desire enriching experiences that are of university quality.

The Alumni LENS office will email registration confirmations to all participants enrolling for featured offerings.


Register in advance to prevent cancellation of offerings due to insufficient enrollment. If cancellations are made, registrants will typically be notified by email three days prior to the start date. In these cases either a full refund of fees paid will be made or credit will be given toward the registration of another offering during the same semester.


Enrollment in noncredit personal enrichment Alumni LENS offerings does not constitute admission to Michigan State University.


Programs listed in the University Offerings section are accurate as of the time of publication but are subject to change.


Parking is available on campus for Alumni LENS participants in areas reserved for campus visitors. Between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday - Friday, visitors may park at metered parking spaces or in gate-controlled lots. Visitors may also purchase* a Visitor Parking Permit from the MSU Police. Please visit MSU's website at for assistance in finding MSU campus buildings and visitor parking. Those attending programs at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center may park in their ramp. On evenings and weekends, when events are not being held at the Breslin Student Events Center or Munn Arena, the lots next to and behind Jenison Fieldhouse are available at no charge.

*A campus parking discount is offered to paid members of the MSU Alumni Association in selected parking lots. Your current membership card must be shown to the parking attendant to receive a 50% discount in select commuter lots Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Discount rates do not apply during any special or athletic events. Designated lots are: Lot 79 on Shaw Lane, south side of Spartan Stadium; Lot 62W on Red Cedar road, north side of Spartan Stadium; Wharton Center (Ramp 3) on Wilson Road next to the Wharton Center; and Lot 100 on Service Road near the Clinical Center.


Course fees for Featured Offerings are published in this brochure and are noted online. You must register with the Alumni LENS office and pay for all courses prior to attending.


Vacancies created by cancellations are difficult to fill even when there are wait-lists.For this reason, we must have cancellation fees to offset the cost of an unfilled place in the course.

Cancellation requests must be received three days prior to the first day of class in order to receive a refund. All cancellations will be charged a $15 cancellation fee. Your requests for refunds should be made directly to the Alumni LENS office, Michigan State University Alumni Association, by calling 517-884-1000 or 877-MSU-ALUM between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.
