Ride with Pride

MSU license plates provide a great way to both show your Spartan pride and support the university. A portion of the fees associated with the Michigan State license plate comes back to the university to support student scholarships and programming. In the state of Michigan, that amount is $25 of the $35 fee.

Hundreds of thousands of MSU specialty plates are on the road in Michigan, more than for any other non-profit or university. Spartan plates are also offered in a number of other states. Be sure to check with your state's department of motor vehicles to learn more as these options change frequently.

About the State of Michigan Spartan Plate

MSU license plates can be purchased anytime in the state of Michigan by alumni and fans. In total, more than $6 million has been raised through license plate sales.

Design

The Michigan State license plate features the Spartan helmet logo. For an additional, prorated fee you may also personalize your plate. Check the availability of your desired plate. Personalized plates may only be ordered from the Secretary of State office and take approximately 21 days to arrive to you by mail.

Benefits to MSU

First year fee: $35 (additional prorated fee for personalized plates); MSU receives $25.
Renewals: Additional $10 over standard rate; MSU receives $10.
