Alumni clubs have raised over
$13 million in scholarship funds.
Thanks to the work of alumni clubs
like the AZ Spartans, that number continues to grow.
AZ Spartans Endowed Scholarship Fund
In 2012, the AZ Spartans alumni club initiated the AZ Spartans Endowed Scholarship Fund. To date, this scholarship has impacted six students. There are currently two student recipients at Michigan State University receiving $2500 a year from this award.
The AZ Spartans Endowed Scholarship is awarded to students from across the state of Arizona who achieve a 3.5 high school grade point average and maintain a minimum 3.25 MSU grade point average. The students can study in any one of MSU’s 17-degree granting colleges and pursue any of the university’s 200 different majors.
We had the opportunity to sit down with both AZ Spartans Endowed Scholarship Recipients, Kennedi Lurry and Maddie Jones.
Kennedi Lurry '19
Kennedi is majoring in professional writing and minoring in creative writing in the College of Arts and Letters. She is on track to graduate early, and has her eyes set on pursuing a Master's degree. She aspires to work in publishing or television.
Being a Spartan to me
Maddie Jones '20
Maddie is majoring in computer science, and is a student in the College of Engineering. Maddie always harbored dreams of going to school out of state, and Michigan State University's top-notch College of Engineering sold her on the trek across the country.
It means a lot that someone found me, and sent me this scholarship to help me pursue my dreams.
