Spartan Days of Service provide opportunities throughout the academic year to give back to the community while connecting with fellow students. Whether you participate individually, with friends, or as part of a student organization, you’ll make a meaningful impact.
We handle the details — transportation, breakfast, lunch and a t-shirt — so you can focus on giving back. With a variety of projects to choose from, there's something for everyone.
Want to organize a project for one of our next days of service? Email Dan DiMaggio (Dimaggi2@msu.edu), Director of Student Engagement, for more information.
If you can't attend Spartan Days of Service, you can still make a difference through year-round service opportunities or by supporting the MSU programs that matter most to you.
The Winter Day of Service is held annually on Feb. 13, bringing Spartans together in remembrance of the tragic events that touched our campus. This day honors all who were impacted — through meaningful acts of service that channel grief into goodwill and reflect the strength, compassion and unity of our Spartan community.
Event dates will be listed here when available.
The Spring Day of Service offers MSU students the opportunity to give back to nearby communities through hands-on volunteer work that makes a meaningful impact. Whether you’re planting gardens, cleaning up parks and trails, organizing donations, or helping prepare community spaces for the warmer months, your time and energy help strengthen the bond between Spartans and the communities we serve.

As the semester kicks off, the Fall Day of Service invites Spartans to come together and make a positive impact on local communities. This event connects students with volunteer opportunities — from park clean-ups to community beautification projects — that help support and uplift nearby neighborhoods.

Show what it means to be a Spartan by helping local students start the school year strong. The Fill the Bus initiative invites Spartans to donate new school supplies—like notebooks, pencils and backpacks to support children in need across our communities. Every item donated reflects the heart of the Spartan community.
Drop-off locations and dates will be shared here when available.
Spartans believe in the power of learning—and we put that belief into action. Through the Stuff the Library initiative, MSU students collect new and gently used children’s books to help build better-stocked school libraries and promote literacy in local classrooms. It’s a small act with a lasting impact and another way Spartans support future generations of students.
Donation details will be posted here as they become available.
Service is more than a moment — it’s a Spartan mindset. Throughout the year, Spartans are around the world creating positive change. Whether you’re volunteering at a food bank, cleaning up a park or mentoring youth, your efforts carry the strength and compassion of the Spartan spirit.
