Sparty loves to be out and about. He regularly attends weddings, graduation parties, birthday celebrations, bar mitzvahs and charity events on behalf of Michigan State.
Due to his academic and university commitments, Sparty is unable to confirm appearances sooner than one month before the event date.
His availability is limited during major athletic tournaments and on all football Saturdays. We will email you about one month before your event with your request status. Please understand that although Sparty would love to be everywhere, the volume of requests received makes that challenging — he is a student, after all!

Sparty is able to attend events for up to 45 minutes and rates vary depending on:

If Sparty is able to attend your event, we will provide a finalized price with his contract. The fees charged for Sparty’s appearance directly benefit the Sparty Mascot Program by funding uniforms, travel, cleaning, refurbishments and other expenses necessary to help Sparty represent Spartan Nation.
Sparty appears at more than 500 events per year. The most common include wedding receptions, birthday parties, alumni events, tailgates, bar-mitzvahs, golf outings, fundraisers, charity events, retirement parties, fairs, commercials — and, of course, all major MSU sporting events.
Sparty has different rates depending on your type of event. Costs vary due to distance from campus, whether the event is private or for a charitable organization and depending on whether or not your event falls on a major holiday. Please see standard rates under “Appearance Fees.”
Sparty is a very active and busy guy. You must submit your event request at least two months in advance, but the earlier the better! Please note that Sparty is unable to make any personal appearances on days with either home or away football games due to his other commitments.
Because Sparty is so busy, he can only stay at events for up to 45 minutes — no exceptions.
At most events Sparty wears his traditional green armor, but at special events such as wedding receptions, Sparty dons a tuxedo. If you would like Sparty to wear something different to accentuate your event, please email us to make special arrangements.
