Staging for the parade begins at 4:30 p.m. on Abbot Road in East Lansing. Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) will be eligible to receive parade awards in the following categories: best float, banner, group, Spartan spirit and residence hall. Additional awards of best community and campus group will also be given. Entries will be judged and awarded based on the theme.

Parade awardees will be notified after the parade and will have the opportunity to have two representatives from the organization receive the award during half-time of the Homecoming football game on Saturday. Two tickets to the football game will be provided for two members of the winning organization.

A limited number of flatbeds will be available for registered student organizations to build floats on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to reserve a flatbed, please indicate so when submitting your parade entry form.

For RSOs reserving flatbeds, the southeast concourse area of Spartan Stadium will be available for building floats beginning Monday, October 7th and will continue each night until Thursday, October 11th. A tool crib with tools will be available each night to assist in building floats and the MSU Recycling Center will have free items available to assist in making floats. See how to build a float. A limited amount of additional space in the concourse area will be available on a first come, first served basis to other groups wishing to build floats on flatbeds they provide themselves. You must provide your own flatbed.

Parade Route: The parade begins at the intersection of Abbot Road and Burcham Drive, travels south on Abbot Road, east on Grand River, south at Collingwood, south on Farm Lane and concludes at the corner of Farm and Shaw lanes.

At the conclusion of the parade, there will be a float breakdown area available until 8:45 pm at the MSU Recycling Center located on Farm Lane. To get to the breakdown area, continue straight on Farm Lane past Service Road. The recycling center is on the right. Dumpsters and tools will be available for you to disassemble and discard your float materials. If you acquired a flatbed from the MSU Alumni Association, you will be able to leave the flatbed in the parking lot where you disassemble the float. Alumni Association flatbeds not returned will result in the RSO being assessed a replacement fee of $1500.
