Experience World-Famous Oxford
Registration is now open
August 20-September 2, 2017
From $5,595 per person plus airfare
This is an extremely popular program that frequently sells out. Registration opens at 8:00 am EST on January 25, 2017 (if you received a brochure in the mail, this is a change from the January 17, 2017 date printed on page 12). Courses of study are limited to 10-14 participants each and fill quickly, so don’t wait too long to register. Please note that we cannot reserve or hold a spot in a course for anyone in advance of the registration opening date. Participants must register and pay a $500 deposit and the balance of the fee is due by May 19, 2017.
When you register, please be sure to select both a first choice and a second choice for your course of study. For online and mailed registrations, MSU will review them as they are received and we will contact you within two business days of your registration submission to let you know which of your two selected courses are available. Once we confirm your course of study with you, we will provide you with information to complete your registration. If you are paying online, you will have two business days to charge $500 per person deposit to your credit card/finalize the transaction in order to confirm your participation/seat in your course of study. If you registered by mail, we will cash your check.
If your course of study is full, we will be maintaining a waiting list in the event of a cancellation.
Registration will be handled two ways:
- Online and pay with a credit card
- Mail. To register by mail, send the completed form located in the back of the brochure with a personal check.
Due to increased measures by MSU to ensure a secure credit card transaction, we can no longer accept credit card information over the phone or through the mail for this program.
Quench your thirst for knowledge by studying at one of the world’s most famous universities while you experience Oxford as a student. Celebrating its 34th anniversary in 2017, this two-week lifelong education program takes you on a rare adventure to Oxford – “city of dreaming spires” – and to the University of Oxford, famous as a great center of learning since the 12th century.
Each participant enrolls in one non-credit course of study taught by an Oxford tutor and each course has its own excursions. The courses of study for 2017 are:
- The First War On Terror? The French Revolution and The British Response with course excursions to Brighton Royal Pavilion and Kew Palace
- In Search Of Time: The Art and Science of the Fourth Dimension with course excursions to Greenwich and the Science Museum in London
- Home Sweet Home: The Fabric, Social Structure and Culture of the Victorian and Edwardian Home with course excursions to Wightwick Manor and Hughenden Manor
- Mary, Queen of Scots: Heroine, Villain, Legend with course excursions to Fotheringhay Castle, Peterborough Cathedral and Mapledurham
In addition to the course-related excursions, two group excursions are planned for all participants - a visit to Bath and Harvington Hall. A day-long, optional group excursion to Hever Castle and Gardens, is scheduled for your mid-program weekend enjoyment.
There will be ample time during the two weeks to enjoy breathtaking architecture, art, and gardens of many of the university's 38 colleges, explore the historic town of Oxford, or visit the surrounding countryside.
