Request Sparty for Your Event

Sparty loves to be out and about. He regularly attends weddings, graduation parties, birthday celebrations, bar mitzvahs and charity events on behalf of Michigan State. You name it and Sparty has done it! To request his attendance at your next event, please complete the online request form.

PLEASE NOTE: Submitting a request does not confirm Sparty’s attendance.

Due to his academic and university commitments, Sparty is unable to confirm appearances more than one month prior to the event date. Sparty's availability is limited during major athletic tournaments, and he is unavailable on all football Saturdays. After his university commitments are scheduled, private functions are scheduled according to his availability. You will be contacted by email about one month prior to your event with the status of your request.

Please understand that although Sparty would love to be everywhere, the volume of requests received makes that challenging — he is a student, after all!

Appearance Fees

Sparty is able to attend events for up to 45 minutes, and rates vary depending on the organization, type of event, distance from campus, in- and out-of-state travel and whether or not your event falls on a major holiday. Standard appearance fees are as follows:

• What type of events does Sparty attend?

  Sparty has been almost everywhere, appearing at more than 500 events per year. The most common events that Sparty participates in are wedding receptions, birthday parties, alumni events, tailgates, bar-mitzvahs, golf outings, fundraisers, charity events, retirement parties, fairs, commercials — and, of course, all major MSU sporting events.

• How much does it cost to have Sparty appear at my event?

  Sparty has different rates depending on your type of event. Costs will vary due to distance from campus, whether the event is private or for a charitable organization and depending on whether or not your event falls on a major holiday. Please see standard rates under “Appearance Fees.”

• If I want Sparty at my event, how early should I make a request?

  Sparty is a very active and busy guy. You must submit your event request at least two months in advance, but the earlier the better! Please note that Sparty is unable to make any personal appearances on days with either home or away football games due to his other commitments.

• How long can Sparty stay at my event?

  Because Sparty is so busy, he can only stay at events for up to 45 minutes — no exceptions.

• What does Sparty wear?

  At most events Sparty wears his traditional green armor, but at special events such as wedding receptions, Sparty dons a tuxedo. If you would like Sparty to wear something different to accentuate your event, please email us to make special arrangements.
