California Rail Discovery

A crimson bridge, cable cars, a sparkling bay, and streets lined with elegant Victorian homes—San Francisco is undeniably one of the world’s great cities. Reason enough to join a spectacular seven-day journey through northern California on the California Rail Discovery. Begin the trip with two nights along Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. A tour of the “City by the Bay” will show the city’s many highlights & features a San Francisco Bay Cruise for spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the beautiful skyline. In the afternoon, cross the Golden Gate Bridge and take in the sights and smells of the majestic redwood trees of Muir Woods. The next day enjoy Napa Valley’s stunning scenery and sample some local wines during a Winery Tour & Tasting. Later, arrive in Sacramento and see Old Town, the commercial hub of the Gold Rush Era. The following morning board Amtrak’s California Zephyr and head east into the spectacular snow-capped Sierra Mountain range and disembark in the Reno/Tahoe area. The next three nights are spent on the shores of Lake Tahoe at the Lake Tahoe Resort. Visit Reno, Carson City, and the historic town of Virginia City. A paddle-wheeler cruise of Lake Tahoe and then a farewell dinner will cap off this adventure out west.
