Kelly Burgin, a 1990 graduate from the College of Communication Arts and Sciences, created a small business almost 15 years ago that is garnering national attention.

K. Carroll Accessories, an online boutique, sells vegan leather handbags and is based in Auburn Hills, Mich.

On Nov. 3, the small business appeared as a “favorite thing” in O, The Oprah Magazine. They also appeared on Good Morning America’s “Deals and Steals” and will soon be featured on HSN and The View.

Burgin opened her business in 2002 after she was downsized from her corporate job. She decided to use the opportunity to do something she had a passion for and create a more balanced personal life.

K. Carroll Accessories started as “Boutique to U”, a traveling boutique focused on trunk show fundraisers, but the company has evolved an expanded product line, an e-commerce site and a wholesale business that spans all 50 states.
