Distinguished Alumni: Presented to alumni who have differentiated themselves by obtaining the highest level of professional accomplishment in their field.

He’s a multi-award winning executive, committed mentor and a Spartan.

With a 45-year career, Ronald Goldsberry is a well-respected leader who keeps a steadfast commitment to mentoring future generations. Among his many professional awards, Dr. Goldsberry was recognized as one of Black Enterprises’ Top 25 Black Executives, won Stanford University’s Tapestry Award and received Industry Week’s Excellence in Management award. He has served as a member on over 20 boards of directors, several of which he held leadership positions.

Dr. Goldsberry has a long history of supporting Michigan State University. His leadership, experience and volunteerism resulted in the creation of new programs, funding opportunities, sustainability improvements and strategic plans. He was the chairman of the board of MBI International, a board member of the MSU Foundation, appointed by the Board of Trustees to the Michigan State University Investment Advisory Committee and pivotal in the foundation of the Black Alumni Association, whose scholarships and endowments are worth more than $2 million and have helped hundreds of students experience the university.

As a first-generation college graduate, Goldberry attributes much of his educational, professional and personal growth to the support he received from others throughout his life. He often returns to campus to mentor students with the mission of creating more diversity and opportunity within the STEM field. In addition to establishing multiple endowment funds at all three of his alma maters, Dr. Goldsberry has worked to ensure that students of color in the Detroit Public Schools have the support, resources and preparation needed to lead successful careers in STEM.

Dr. Goldsberry continues to serve as a role model and mentor for students of all ages, providing an example for all that can be accomplished and showcasing the importance of a supportive community.
