Student Spotlights: Fiona Yeung

Fiona Yeung is a first-year veterinary student from Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Through her childhood, Fiona was always interested in animals, but her volunteer experience working at a wildlife refuge solidified her decision to make it a career. She chose MSU because of the strong curriculum in VetMed and the strong sense of community she felt on campus.

As an advocate for justice and equal representation for all, she is especially interested in the way the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) community has been affected throughout the COVID pandemic. Fiona is passionate about increasing Asian-American representation in veterinary medicine and student organizations on campus. She holds several different leadership positions including serving as the co-president of the Asian Veterinary Professionals; “Vwhich,” which she co-founded last semester; and is the wellness chair of the Student American Veterinary Medical Association.

Fiona served as a panelist during the 2022 APIDA Heritage Month Career Series to help and serve as a mentor to her peers.
