A Path for Advancing Equity with Dr. Jabbar Bennett

Held April 20, 2022 at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights

Spartan alumni and friends gathered on April 20, 2022 at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta for a meaningful conversation about MSU’s vision for strengthening community and supporting the success of every Spartan, led by Jabbar R. Bennett, Ph.D., vice president and chief diversity officer at Michigan State University. Atlanta TV news broadcaster and alumna Aisha Howard moderated the program. Spartans Ingrid Saunders Jones and Ed Potter serve on the board of the center.

Dr. Jabbar R. Bennett joined MSU’s administration in late 2020, becoming MSU’s first chief diversity officer at the vice president level. In his first year, he helped usher in the roll out of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Steering Committee Report and Plan in August 2021 and with implementation planning underway, is on track with mobilizing various action planning teams to help advance those priorities in academic year 2022-23 and beyond.

Aisha Howard is a proud graduate of MSU’s School of Journalism and an Emmy-nominated journalist seen on 11 Alive in Atlanta weekday mornings.
