Meet James, 2024 Homecoming Court Member

James Suggitt is a dedicated senior here at Michigan State all the way from Flemington, New Jersey. As a student at the College of Natural Science and the Honors College, he studies both Biochemistry and Biotechnology Microbiology. James is honored to represent fellow Spartans on this year’s Homecoming Court and is thrilled to be sharing his passion for Michigan State by connecting with both past and present Spartans.

In addition to being integral to many research projects, James proudly works as a Resident Assistant (RA). In this role, James strives to create a welcoming and inclusive space where all students feel that they belong. As an RA on a gender-inclusive floor, James has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to understanding and inclusivity. When he is not in class or attending to his residents, James also humbly serves as a Crisis Advocate for MSU’s Center for Survivors. It is his commitment, dedication and compassion that defines his Spartan spirit.

James strives to create a space where all Spartans feel heard, understood and welcomed. As an out-of-state student, he hopes to demonstrate the power of the MSU community in its ability to create connections and make all Spartans feel at home. James’ favorite spot on campus is the Landscape Arboretum, he specifically enjoys seeing the stunning displays of native Michigan Plants.

“Embrace every opportunity you come across, and know that fellow Spartans, whether in East Lansing or across the globe, are in your corner! You can have an incredible impact on campus, so make sure your time here matters — whether a freshman or long since graduated.”
