Meet Leah, 2023 Homecoming Court Member

Meet Leah Flores-Cabrera, a dedicated and accomplished senior at MSU from Mexico and raised in the metro Detroit suburbs. Leah is a highly esteemed student from the College of Engineering, majoring in Applied Engineering Science. She is also minoring in Supply Chain Management. She avidly explores topics such as STEM and business education, technology, the racial wealth gap and traveling.

Leah is a natural-born leader who has demonstrated her leadership skills through active participation in campus organizations such as the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). She is passionate about raising awareness about the challenges faced by underrepresented minority communities and strives to create more educational and professional opportunities for them. Leah believes this is crucial to encourage more underrepresented minority students to graduate and pursue careers with significant growth potential, thereby building generational wealth.

Leah has a profound appreciation for the culture and community at MSU. She has witnessed Spartans supporting and helping each other to secure opportunities. She has also connected with alumni who remain passionate about being Spartans, making "Spartan pride" a lifelong association.

Leah's favorite spot on campus is the Wells Hall Courtyard and Office of Cultural and Academic Transitions (OCAT). She finds the courtyard a beautiful spot to walk through, while OCAT is her go-to place for connecting with the community and de-stressing from school.

Leah is a remarkable and inspiring individual who has significantly contributed to the MSU community. Her leadership, passion and commitment to creating a better future for underrepresented minority communities make her a true asset to the university.

"Prioritize doing the things you enjoy. Pursue things because they interest you, not just for the title or 'clout.' Make sure to balance school and fun. You might have some tedious classes at times, but make time to pursue hobbies/extracurriculars that you like and spend time with people you care about. Be open to different opportunities, especially when you are young."
