MSU Center for Survivors Expands

The Center for Survivors added a 24-hour-a-day medical care for sexual assault survivors. Now specially trained nurses will provide ?rst-response care at the center, located in the Student Services Building. MSU’s Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct workgroup recommended the addition, formally known as the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program.

Survivors will be seen in a newly refurbished suite of private rooms designed to be more comfortable than a hospital or police station.

The new addition encompasses a wairing room, exam room and meeting rooms. Services are con?dential, free and available 24/7.  All care is guided by trauma-informed practitioners. Crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, safe-space meeting places and transportation are also offered.

“We want survivors to know they’re not alone. We care about their well-being and will help them along whichever healing path they choose,” said Tana Fedewa, the center’s director.
