Music in the Garden: Spartan Jazz Trio

Experience the sights and sounds of the beautiful campus of Michigan State University as the MSU College of Music and the W.J. Beal Botanical Gardens present Music in the Garden featuring the Spartan Jazz Trio.

The Spartan Jazz Trio is made up of three of the top Jazz Studies Students from the MSU College of Music.

With Jordyn Davis on bass, James Zito on guitar and Patrick Score on Trumpet, this trio's unique configuration offers a sound that is rooted in rhythm and coated with soul. This group of musicians has played all over the world with prominent stops in New York City and Japan.

From performing in the first annual Jack Rudin Jazz Championship at Lincoln Center to playing professionally alongside top jazz musicians including Micheal Dease, Rodney Whitaker, Randy Napoleon, and Wycliffe Gordon, the Spartan Jazz Trio presents a strong representation of the finest young jazz musicians today.

MSU Garden Tour: Common Toxic Plants

Following the concert, join Peter Carrington, W.J. Beal Botanical Garden curator and collection manager, in touring a selection of toxic plants that can arise in anyone’s yard. Since plants cannot run away from potential herbivores, they have developed architecture and chemistry to offer protection from plant eaters. This will include a virtual discussion about identification and prevention.

LIVESTREAM STARTS AUG. 18 @ 7PM
