Student Spotlight: Olivia Heath

Meet Olivia Heath! She’s a social work and social relations and policy senior from Saginaw, Michigan. She decided to come to Michigan State because of the opportunities offered through James Madison College and the campus’s close location to the state capital, where she’s been able to work closely with legislators. After graduation, Olivia plans on getting a master’s in social work and hopes to find a career focused on community work engagement—a passion of hers.

Outside of the classroom, Olivia devotes her time to the Spartan Food Security Council as the Service Chair. She said this position has strengthened her leadership skills and given her opportunities to network, all while fighting for a cause that’s very important to her.

Olivia is also the Vice-President of United for Latino Success (ULS), a new organization on campus. She said one of her favorite parts of ULS is being surrounded by a group of people that share the same identity and experiences. Olivia said being able to foster a smaller community like this on a large campus makes it feel more like home.
