Student Spotlight: Isabella Short

Meet Isabella Short! She is a first year Journalism major passionate about telling peoples’ stories. After being a part of her high school’s yearbook staff, she learned the power of connecting with others and sharing everyone's unique story. At Michigan State she continues that mission as a staff writer for the Red Cedar Log, the university’s yearbook.

In her free time, she composes entertainment articles for IMPACT radio station, copy edits for VIM fashion magazine, and writes feature stories for Her Campus. She says one of her favorite parts of being involved in the School of Journalism is the ability to make connections. With so much overlap between classes and clubs, she feels like she can always find a familiar face--which is especially nice on such a large campus.

Originally from Chicago, Isabella chose to come to MSU because of its large student population and nationally accredited journalism program. Her number one message to incoming students is to get involved. At a big university it’s easy to feel isolated but connecting with others who have similar passions and goals has been her biggest blessing.
