Meet Emily, 2023 Homecoming Court Member

Emily Hoyumpa is a senior at Michigan State University from Shelby Township, MI. Emily is a highly-motivated and dedicated student pursuing her degree from the James Madison College in Social Relations and Policy. In addition, she is also a proud member of the Honors College and is pursuing minors in French & Asian-Pacific American Studies. 

As Associated Students of Michigan State University (ASMSU) and MSU Student Body President and a representative of MSU on the Homecoming Court, Emily is thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to showcase the fantastic people and traditions that make MSU such a remarkable institution. She believes that the students who make up MSU embody the true spirit of "Spartans Will" and is excited to represent the resilience and perseverance of the Spartan community. 

Emily recognizes that every Spartan has a unique journey of success and challenges. As such, she is humbled to represent the unwavering Spartan spirit that perseveres through her work and interests in issues relating to diversity, equity, & inclusion (DEI), leadership, community, sustainability, and foreign languages and cultures. 

When Emily is not busy with her studies or involvement on campus, she can be found in the MSU Library or strolling through the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden – her two favorite spots on campus. Emily's dedication, passion and commitment to her studies and community make her a true asset to the MSU community, and she is honored to represent MSU on the 2023 Homecoming Court. 

"Being a Spartan means something different to all of us. Whether it means screaming in the student section at sporting events, studying abroad, having the opportunity to do life-changing research, or joining an extracurricular, no one has the exact same Spartan experience. Yet, through all of these adventures, we're connecting with one another to strengthen the Spartan Community. MSU is the place it is today because of the people, and with that being said, we must cherish every moment, show compassion, lean on one another, and always remember that #SpartansWill."
