Meet Kailyn, 2024 Homecoming Court Member

Kailyn Butler is a dedicated and passionate senior from Highland, Indiana. She is currently pursuing a double major in Neuroscience and Human Biology with a minor in Bioethics as a student at Lyman Briggs College. Kailyn is thrilled to be representing Michigan State and Lyman Briggs College as a member of this year’s Homecoming Court.

As a woman of color studying in the field of science, Kailyn’s experiences at MSU have helped her to become a passionate advocate for women and minority groups who want to pursue education and careers in the sciences. Through her studies, Kailyn has developed interests and conducted research on topics such as healthcare education in low-socioeconomic areas and racial disparities in the healthcare system. She has presented her research at numerous showcases and conferences, including The Michigan State University Undergraduate Search and Arts Forum. With a desire to become a doctor focused on Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Kailyn is someone who will continue to demonstrate what it means to be a compassionate Spartan.

When Kailyn is not busy with her studies, she enjoys spending time near the Red Cedar River. Kailyn is eternally grateful for the support and kindness from her mentors and advisors from Lyman Briggs College and it incredibly honored to be one of the first women of color to represent the college on the 2024 Homecoming Court. She hopes to inspire others to realize their potential and seize the countless opportunities available to them as Spartans.

“I urge you not to let anyone, including yourself, hinder your pursuit of dreams and ambitions. Your potential knows no bounds; let nothing stand in the way of your greatness.”
