Meet Nikita, 2023 Homecoming Court Member

Nikita Nel is a passionate senior hailing from Toledo, Ohio. She is currently majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology/Biotechnology as a student of the esteemed Lyman Briggs College. In addition, she is also minoring in bioethics and proudly serves as an Honors College Student.  

Having immigrated to the United States from South Africa as a first-generation immigrant, Nikita has developed a deep interest in exploring the connections between socioeconomic, environmental factors and human health. Her undergraduate experience has been focused on highlighting the impact of culture on health. She utilizes research to examine how daily nutrition, demographic information and mental health are interrelated within the human body. 

Nikita cherishes the lifelong friendships, exceptional mentors and invaluable learning experiences she has gained on campus. She encourages fellow students to use MSU's resources to pursue their dreams and find their Spartan community.  

Her go-to spot on campus is The Dairy Store. She loves to sample their monthly specialty milkshakes, and when the fall comes around, she indulges in her favorite seasonal flavor, pumpkin pie. Nikita is forever grateful to the MSU community for their unwavering compassion and support for students and educators. The remarkable achievements of MSU alumni serve as a constant source of inspiration to her.
