Spartans near and far return to campus to band together and celebrate the green & white for Homecoming. In case you couldn’t make it this fall, read a recap of one of best weeks of the year in East Lansing.
Member of the Little Rock Nine, Civil Rights activist, and Michigan State University alumnus Ernest Green was named the 2018 Homecoming Grand Marshal. Green was one of nine teens who helped integrate Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957. After graduating high school in 1958, he was awarded an anonymous scholarship to MSU, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sociology. It later became known that the scholarship was sponsored by then-president of MSU, John Hannah.

It's not just what we do that makes us Spartans — but also why and how we do it. For Homecoming 2017, we joined together in celebration of what it means to be #UniquelySpartan in honor of Grand Marshal Tyler Oakley (Communication Arts And Sciences, Class of 2011).
The Michigan State University Homecoming Committee is made up of members of the East Lansing community and MSU campus partners.
